London Restaurants You Need In Your Life Immediately
As we all know, eating out can sometimes cost a small fortune, and it’s easy to get bogged down going to the same old spots! To help you save some cash, we got in contact with DesignMyNight for their best cheap places to eat in London. With towering meat-packed burgers and dribble-worthy dim sum included in the mix, your only problem now is deciding where to expand your waistline.
1. Last Days of Shoreditch
One of the best places to eat in London, vendors like Mama’s Jerk and The Cheese Truck have helped make this night-time food market into one of the city’s tastiest street eat options. There are loads of bites to pick and choose from, but in our eyes you can’t go wrong with Caribbean fare. Chow down a £6 wrap or a bunch of jerk wings for £5. If you want to dodge a sauce-stained smile, the £5.50 Cropwell Bishop stilton toastie, with bacon and pear chutney from The Cheese Truck, is super satisfying and filling. Whilst the food on offer here is pretty incredible, there are six bars to check out and epic DJs sets from some of Europe’s most up and coming festival names.

2. Bubbledogs
Serving gourmet-style dogs at hard to beat prices, Bubbledogs pride themselves on sourcing their ingredients from local butchers, so you know you’re in for fine cuts of meat and fresher than fresh toppings. Their speciality is the Texas Ranger; and for a measly £7.50, this 12 hour slow smoked dog topped with cheddar cheese and fiery jalapenos could be yours. If you’re feeling slightly more adventurous, there are 17 more options to tuck into. If you want to wash your food down with something alcoholic, Bubbledogs are equipped with an extensive champagne and cocktail list.

3. Kerb Camden
The wealth of food on show at Kerb is mind-blowing. Dart down to Camden and fill your gut with succulent Tandoori from Baba G’s, French brioche burgers drowning in gravy from The Patate and sumptuous meatball dishes from Capish. But, if like us, you’re partial to some tasty seafood and love an exciting new foodie trend, you need to try Ahi Poke. Originating from a Hawaiian-Asian fusion, you can get your hands on this sushi-ceviche hybrid from just £5.95 or you can build your own bowl for under £10.

4. The Coborn
Having previously been your archetypal cockney boozer, The Coborn is drenched in east-end history and in recent years, has had a stunning makeover to incorporate the increasingly popular modern gastropub trend. They serve up true pub classics, like toad in the hole as well as fish and chips, but it’s their Sunday roast that receives the deserved plaudits. Choose from pork loin, roast chicken, rump of beef or a tasty vegetarian option, all of which are served with Yorkshire puddings, ale gravy and the other deliciously authentic trimmings. This hearty Sunday roast will set your bank account back about £12 – £15 but it’s more than worth it.

5. Blueberry Bar and Kitchen
If you’re a savvy deal finder or a cunning bargain hunter, we suggest you book a table at Blueberry Bar and Kitchen. They have a pocket-friendly burger and fries offering every Monday; and it will only set you back £5. Regardless of whether you choose the beef patty with salami milano and crumbled gorgonzola, the chicken fillet with hot buffalo sauce and guacamole or the grilled halloumi with juicy tomato and sweet roasted peppers, you’re in for a great burger. Blueberry also offer reduced fajitas on Thursdays, salmon fillets on Fridays, as well as two hours for the price of one on ping pong tables, Monday to Wednesday.

6. Clerkenwell & Social
The cocktails at Clerkenwell & Social are more than impressive and their 2-4-1 offer throughout the week is oh so enticing. But when we think of this joint, there’s only one thing on our mind – hand-crafted pizza. From a classic margherita to belly-filling, adventurous porchetta with sausage and broccoli stems; grab your Oyster card and head down here any Saturday to buy twelve inches of doughy goodness, and to get another twelve, completely free. An £11.95 two-course lunch menu is also available making Clerkenwell & Social the perfect spot for weekend feasting and meandering.

7. Dirty Bones Shoreditch
Nestled in a Grade II listed building, Dirty Bones might have a simple interior, but its menu is anything but plain. Head down here any day midweek and take advantage of their varied breakfast menu (everything is under a tenner) but we recommend the 14 hour slow-cooked short rib crumpets, which are just £4.50. If you’d rather visit these guys a little later in the day, swivel your eyes towards their lunch and dinner menu. It boasts cheap and cheerful dishes, from crispy fried chicken with maple syrup and waffles, to meaty pork ribs slathered in sweet miso and pomegranate glaze.

8. Ping Pong Covent Garden
When it comes to fun places to eat in London, this one takes the cake. If you’re heading out for a bite to eat with a large group, take our advice and skedaddle down to Ping Pong. Sharing plates are the name of the game, meaning you can get your mitts on loads of plates for a fraction of the cost. This Covent Garden restaurant specialises in dim sum, so expect to eat your dinner with chopsticks rather than knives and forks. Their steamed dumplings start from £3.65 and are always packed with flavour, but there are plenty of different sections to order from. With the majority of dishes under £5, it’s a sure bet to fill your tummy without breaking the bank.

9. Grand Union
Grand Union might be known for its quirky fire-pit beer garden, but they have a mighty food menu too, and it boasts a plethora of comforting dishes. We’re talking £5 sharing plates that star BBQ wings drenched in Frank’s hot sauce and nachos smothered in cheese, guacamole, sour cream and salsa. If you think you can tackle one of their burgers, go for it. There are six to choose from; all are priced at £10 and come served with fries and slaw. From classic beef burgers stacked with with aged cheddar, onion rings and smoked bacon, to halloumi burgers topped with creamy garlic mayo – this is one place to get extra bang for your buck.

10. The Fable
With its interiors taking inspiration from magical fairy tales, it goes without saying that The Fable is one of London’s most unique restaurants. What’s even more special about this enchanting place are its prices. With affordable dishes like crispy duck salads and pesto and mozzarella topped flatbread gracing the menu, you can easily get away with a decent meal costing under £10. It’s the perfect place to celebrate a birthday or a special occasion without having to worry about the size of your bill. Just make sure to book in advance.
