Hostelworld guests often compare Stayokay Amsterdam Zeeburg to a hotel, saying it’s spacious and clean and serves a very highly praised free breakfast of ‘eggs, cheese, ham, freshly pressed orange/apple juice’ and more. Visitors tell us the hostel ‘has excellent tram and bus connections and all the main attractions are on the same tram line’, putting it about 10 minutes by tram from the very centre of Amsterdam. We like that there is a reading light and power socket at each dorm bed, with decor that’s been described as ‘beautiful and modern and...well taken care of’.
Property Description
The hostel is located to the east of the city centre in a quiet, typical Amsterdam neighbourhood. Amsterdam’s historic centre is less than 15 minutes away by bike or tram. Stayokay Amsterdam Oost has its own café-restaurant and shares the premises with a number of interesting neighbours, which means that there’s always plenty to do, if you stay here.
The bedrooms are all spacious and feature private sanitary facilities. All standard rooms have bunk beds.
You will be given bed linen upon arrival to make your own bed. Towels are not included. These can be rented at the hostel for € 3,00 per towel. Breakfast is not included, but you can book it separately or buy it at the hostel. Breakfast is against payment of € 9.50.
Tourist tax of 7% per night of the cost of the room plus €3 per person per night, is not included. Please pay upon arrival.
• Children under 18 years, is only allowed on private (family) rooms toghether with parents.
• Persons aged 16 or 17 may also stay in a private room without being in the company of an adult, provided that they can present a filled consent
form upon arrival at the hostel (please contact the hostel for the consent form).
Stayokay and Hostelling International members do not receive member discount on this booking.
Stayokay Amsterdam Oost is a cashless hostel. You can pay contactless and with all major bank and credit cards. It is not possible to pay with cash in our accommodation.

Hostel staff were very polite and friendly.The hostel itself was clean and secure with a good breakfast too.However,I would find the hostel hard to recommend as it was very expensive at £70 (?) a night and sharing a room with 3 others.Very expensive.

This was a fantastic place to stay! I loved the privacy of each bunk! Although it was a small space, I though it was perfect for backpackers! They kept everything very clean!

Overall a decent stay. Previously stayed at the Vondelpark location and wanted to try something new. The main downside is the location - it is about 20-30 min away from the city centre, which would be fine if there was more around the area to explore. Hostel is spacious and common areas are cozy. Facilities are good but laundry cost €9.50 (which is steep). Would recommend if you’re on a quiet/work trip.

I think what guests like the most about our hostel is our price and quality. The rooms are clean and safe, there is free Wi-Fi. In our bar you can meet other travellers and play a game of pool or darts. The hostel has a bike rental service, which is a great way to get around the city! Our staff is very experienced and willing to help you find your way around the city. At the reception lots of things are available like towels, tickets for museums and attractions, public transport tickets and the Amsterdam card or City Pass.
Around the hostel there are some interesting things to do and see. For example, there is a cinema next door and a real Dutch windmill in walking distance. This is a good photo stop and it gets even better; it's also a beer brewery! At 'Brouwerij 't IJ' they make their own local Amsterdam beer and of course you can have a taste there on their sunny terrace.
For some culture you can take a short walk to the Royal Tropical Institute (Tropenmuseum). The permanent and temporary exhibitions display (art) objects, photographs, music and film from non-western cultures. Did you know that there are people with over 180 different nationalities living in Amsterdam?
Guests of all ages are welcome in our hostel. Over the last 5 years that the hostel is open, we have welcomed guests from 0 to 88 years. Most guests are between 18 and 30 years old. This is a wheelchair-friendly building and there is an elevator available. There are also several wheelchair-accessible rooms available for people with special needs or disabilities.
