Property Description

Sitting above the emerald waters of Kilifi Lagoon is Distant Relatives Ecolodge and Backpackers. Formed with the intention of creating a space which honors people and the environment alike, Distant Relatives embraces guests from all walks of life to visit our untouched piece of paradise.

Our space is designed to promote socially and environmentally conscious living. Our accommodations work in cohesion with the natural world surrounding them. From our permaculture garden to eco-toilets, we try to minimize our footprint in every way possible.

Experience some Kilifi magic by snorkeling in the crystal clear waters on Bofa beach, watching the sunset on a traditional dhow boat or swimming in a sea of bioluminescent stars on our creek beach.

This hostel is definitely in my top 3 Hostels of the world! I spent time here during the Baobab new years festival and the hostel was buzzing with fellow festival attendees. Staff went out of their way to make everything happen, they were patient, kind and and always had a smile on their face. The hostel itself is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, theres plenty of seating, the pool is clean and my favourite part: you can have a relaxing shower under the shade of the bamboo bush. I love the eco hostel concept. Manager was very nice and helpful. Cool location with the amazing bay a short walk away with giant crabs and bioluminescence. Nice to see a place trying to make the world a better place. Keep up the good work.
