About Malaga
Malaga is an energetic city with amazing people, parties, and beaches. The capital of the Costa del Sol is one of the largest cities in Spain and one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back to around 770 BC.
Hostels in Malaga are just as charming as the rest of the city. They have laid-back vibes, and many have bonus extras like free sangria nights. One has a leafy rooftop terrace, with hammocks for soaking up the sizzling Malaga sun. If you’re looking for more of a party hostel, check out the Malaga hostel with two bars, insane happy hours and a central location amid Malaga’s nightlife. There’s even a hostel with communal guitars, because who doesn’t love a hostel singalong?
The hostels in central Malaga are the first choice for many. Only a stone's throw from museums, shops and nightlife, they’re in the perfect location to make the most out of your time in the city! Another option is to stay in a hostel in the Malagueta, right next to the beach. The neighborhood is still central and lively, with the sea breeze to cool you off!
The atmosphere of the hostels and the array of fun activities in Malaga make it one of the best destinations for backpackers in Spain - you may never want to leave! You can get a bird’s eye view from The Castle of Gibralfarro and plan your trip; a stroll down Calle Larios, a tapa of bread with zurrapa in the Ataranzas market, or quench your thirst among the palm trees of Paseo del Parque. It’s also the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, so it’s mandatory to visit his museum (which is free on Sundays and the last two hours of each day) and the house where he was born. Another museum that you cannot miss is the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, which is free every day. If you’re after an adrenaline rush, then El Caminito del Rey is perfect for you. This wooden ledge is 8 metres high, built along the walls of a gorge, and is sure to make your hair stand up. You’ll get some unforgettable photos too!
Getting from one place to the next in Malaga is very easy, since you can get everywhere on foot or by bus. The Malaga buses normally run until 11pm, but there are also night lines for your more rambunctious evenings. It couldn’t be easier to get from Malaga airport to the city centre, and you have several options; the intercity bus takes 15 minutes and is the most budget friendly option, or you can take the train (12 minutes) or a taxi. For excursions outside of Malaga city your best options are to take the train or rent a car.
