Property Description

From the moment you enter our mini oasis, you will be immersed in exquisite nature. Paths wind in and out through lush jungle flora where dorms and rooms nestle in privacy. Best of all is the ever-present sound of the surf. The beach lies directly in front of our place and it is breathtaking. Whether you are writing a novel, re-inventing yourself, or just plain chilling out, we are here for you. Take a sweet walk at sunrise, get your toes wet in the warm Caribbean Sea and then lie in a hammock and dream. Swinging gently again at sunset with a cold drink in your hand in that same hammock can be life changing. Far from the hustle of cities and stress, we have dedicated ourselves to offering you a tiny bit of heaven. Our outdoor restaurant is casual and fun while offering a variety of elegant cuisine and the best collection of craft beers on the entire coast. It extends to tables under the palms and sand dancing under the stars. Who needs shoes ever again! We arrived from an intense city life and found this tiny piece of paradise and we'd love to share it with you. Our Playa 506 is one of the most spectacular values on the this side of the coast. Located in the serene little village of Cocles, it is only 2km walk or bike ride into the lively town of Puerto Viejo. We entertain a unique concept: backpacker boutique. Our credo is this: We believe that true value is not necessarily one size fits all. Everyone should have the opportunity to create his or her unique experience from basic backpacker to 5-star amenities. We begin with a backpacker option. For those with adventure on a mouse budget, backpacker dorms of 8 lie down one path. The beds have individual privacy curtains and lockers for stashing secure items. Fans cool the space down on muggy nights. We also offer private rooms with fan or A/C, with shared or private bathrooms. Each is designed for a particular traveler's comfort and budget. A fully equipped kitchen is provided in the dorm area for those who wish to self-cater. Ever present coffee is on board 24 hours, and there is a cool table for dining casually. We also have a wonderful European trained chef on board to proffer incredible cuisine with a menu that truly dazzles. It starts with guacamole and platanos, meanders through salads, homemade raviolis and humble veggie burgers to a seared pan fried fish en toto just to mention a few. All ingredients are fresh and most are organic. Our bar offers the best collection of crafted brews on the coast. And did we mention wines? One of our associates is a trained vintner who selects from around the world. A surprise! Our chef is a master of flambé. He is dying to present his famous flaming dishes on the sand under the stars, lighting up the ever-present surf. So there is something for everyone from budget to extravagant dazzle, and why not? One size definitely does not fit all. We also offer bikes for rent and wonderfully unique tours including waterfalls, mountains, and horseback riding on the beach. A few meters down the beach, the river meets the sea. It offers splendid kayaking and water yoga AND there are no crocodiles. By the way, a crocodile free river is rare in Costa Rica. We have a sloth named Flash, who lives in the rafters of our restaurant. He is our resident ambassador. So come experience our blending of cultures and life styles intermixed with our own piece of heaven. Pura Vida at its finest! Here are some details: 3 dorms (mixed, 8 occupancy), with fans, privacy curtains and plugs for electronic devices We are proud to say we have optic fiber wifi, so this means good reception in all areas of our site. 18 private rooms: doubles, triples, quadruples, some fan, some A/C, shared or private bathroom. Bicycles to rent: 20 Tours can be booked with reception even surfing lessons. Also transportation to/from anywhere in Costa Rica. We cater to groups as well. Try our off season bargains: group rates are lower in the low season. We are happy to work with you to arrange special events for your group as well.

Great place on the beach. Felt really safe. We were there 4 days and it was a great base to explore this bit of coast. It’s about 30 mins walk into town but there are loads of cafes and restaurants closer than that along the beach road. Comfy beds. Good facilities. It’s literally on the beach so you couldn’t ask for a better spot really. 👌

Increíble stay -- perfect distance from Punta Uva & Puerto Viejo. Literally 70 steps from theBeach. Awesome hammocks to hangout in. Great vibes. Highly recommend.

This was a nice hostel and the staff was really nice. They did clean the hostel everyday but they should have someone patrolling the kitchen or cleaning it more than once a day because the other people staying here made the kitchen super disgusting (not the hostels fault tho). The dorms while they were nice and had curtains on every bed, it smelled very strongly of mold in the room and my friends pillow had black spots of mold all over it which we only realized as we were leaving.

Everything was fine except the fact that we couldn't open the windows of the room ( they were sealed) and the only way to air it was through the air condition. The room was very humid and there was an excessive smell of humidity. Very pity because such a lovely and clean place with lovely staff! Therefore I wouldn't recommend the place despite it deserves a high rating.

Staff were friendly and helpful, beach is really nice, kitchen is good, showers were a bit cold though. A little bit out of town but easy enough to get into if you want to. Really chill hostel no real complaints.

Good location. The rooms are interesting triple bunks, the bathrooms are decent. The vibe overall is OK, not the friendliest travelers lots of euro groups. The walk from town to the hostel is super sketch. Lots of reports of people getting mugged and stuff stolen, so definitely take a tuktuk or stay in a group if you go out at night. But overall the vibe is chill, the restaurant and bar are very expensive.

Playa 506 is on the beach - which is nice, if you wanna hang out there. 2,5 km from the city centre. I experienced that my food got stolen from the fridge and the cabinets :( the kitchen was also not clean at all. Also the hang out areas to meet other travellers were not so good.

The rooms were tiny, I was in a dorm of 8 and the whole floor was just full of bags. The rooms are really unsociable with the curtains on the top bunks they don’t move, also the mattress on my bed was sinking in the middle. Not much social atmosphere but location on the beach is nice.

The property in terms of beach access is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is nice and chill, however for the price the facilitys are lacking. The beds in the dorms are not nice at all and it was extremely hot and stuffy in the bedroom however the problem for me and my friend was the toilets and showers just where not clean at all and there was constantly a bad smell. The hostel was fun and had a great party when we where on just the facilitys for the price was a huge let down.

This was honestly not a great hostel. Like the common areas was so useless in the evening. They would hang up hammocks, but it was so dark that you couldn’t sit and read and the spaces to chill is not very cozy. They didn’t bother to put up proper light. The dorm was tiny, there was no space for your bags and stuff. You literally had to have you bags at the end of you bed, sleeping with it. Awful. The kitchen was a joke. The shower and bathroom didn’t leave much space for privacy. The restaurant was honestly pretty good tho - they served a good breakfast, I gotta give them that. Also the location is right on the beach which was nice, but it is pretty far from the city tho… you can rent bikes, but the bikes they rent you for 7 dollars is so shitty.
